Patient Complaints

The Colorado Hospital Association (CHA) is a not-for-profit membership, policy and advocacy organization, and thus does not facilitate, mediate or expedite complaints pertaining to hospitals and health systems represented by CHA. The CHA role in patient disputes with a hospital is limited to referring patients to the hospital’s designated patient care advocate or patient representative, who serve(s) as a liaison between patients and the hospital. Click here to find a list of CHA member hospitals and health systems and links to their websites for complete contact information.

Licensed health care entities in Colorado must follow formal procedures for handling patient grievances. These requirements are outlined in detail within the state standards for hospitals and health facilities here. CHA recommends that all such communications between a patient and a health care entity be documented in writing.
