The Hospital Provider Fee in the 2017 Legislative Session

This year’s state budget includes a proposed $264 million reduction to the Hospital Provider Fee, which doubles to $528 million with the federal match. CHA recently released an analysis of what that reduction will mean to the hospitals in Colorado, with many facing cuts of more than $1 million dollars for 2017-18.

Senate Bill 17-267 would remove that reduction by moving the Hospital Provider Fee to a separate fund, or an enterprise. CHA strongly supports this legislation and urges members of the General Assembly to pass it.

The bill passed the Senate Finance Committee earlier in April and is currently waiting to be heard by the Senate Appropriations Committee.
