Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital – SCCM ICU Liberation A-F
Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital adopted The Society of Critical Care Medicine’s ICU Liberation Bundle A-F to improve outcomes for all ICU patients. The objective of the bundle is to optimize the ICU environment by creating and implementing a personalized care plan according to each patient’s individual needs that seeks to liberate patients from pain, agitation, oversedation, delirium, mechanical ventilation, and immobility.
The goals and objectives of the bundle implementation plan include the following:
- Minimize sedation
- Promote early mobility
- Reduce ventilator days and hospital-acquired infections
- Reduce ICU length of stay
- Prevent Post Intensive Care Syndrome
After implementing the bundle, some successes include substantially reducing ventilator associated pneumonia, ventilator days, and ICU length of stay.
