HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke’s – Crafts and Conversation
HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke’s recognized that patients experiencing extended hospitalizations for high-risk pregnancy needed additional support and community during this difficult time. As a result, the Crafts and Conversation Program (CCP) was created.
CCP is a weekly creative activity class that connects patients experiencing high risk pregnancies with a psychologist specializing in perinatal mental health with the goal of creating a supportive community and decreasing isolation while providing structure to the week.
Successes include the following:
- Created opportunities to identify patient needs and areas for additional support
- Fostered the development of deep connections and provision of peer support within the group
- Per numerous patient requests, offered CCP beyond pregnancy and birth through NICU hospitalizations, thus extending the continuum of care and support for birthing patients
- CCP embraced fathers’ attendance, which created a unique peer support community for fathers
