Joshua Ewing Named CHA Vice President of Rural Health
DENVER, COLO. – March 6, 2024 – CHA is pleased to announce that Joshua Ewing has been selected as the Association’s Vice President of Rural Health. Ewing currently serves as the CHA Vice President of Government Affairs and will assume the new position after Colorado’s 2024 legislative session concludes in mid-May. As Vice President of Rural Health, Ewing will lead CHA’s strategic efforts on behalf of the 44 rural hospitals across the state to ensure financial and operational sustainability and access to care for Coloradans.
“Josh is uniquely qualified to assess the challenges facing our rural hospitals and to help create policy solutions where appropriate and to assist in identifying governance and operational resources that will make a difference in rural Colorado,” said Jeff Tieman, CHA president and CEO. “Supporting Colorado’s rural hospitals is a priority for our Association, and we know that Josh will be the leader we need to craft meaningful and sustainable programs to do just that.”
“I am excited to return to my personal and professional roots and to build on the relationships I’ve built with leaders from Colorado’s rural hospitals over my nine years with CHA,” said Ewing. “Last year, I visited more than a dozen rural hospitals across the state, which reinforced the current challenges unique to rural hospitals and further inspired me to help create solutions.”
Originally from the Ozarks of southern Missouri, Ewing has nearly two decades of health policy experience at both the state and national levels. Before joining CHA 2015, Ewing worked as part of his role at the National Conference of State Legislatures in partnership with the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to advance rural health policy issues in state capitals across the country, with a focus on access to care, workforce development, and the sustainability of rural health care delivery. He has a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Colorado Denver and a Bachelor of Social Work from Missouri State University. Ewing is also a Certified Association Executive Professional and a graduate of the Rocky Mountain Leadership Program and the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation Impact Denver Class.
