Colorado Hospitals Deactivate Combined Hospital Transfer Center

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, COLO. – Dec. 20, 2022 – This week, Colorado hospitals deactivated the Combined Hospital Transfer Center (CHTC), which had been activated since Nov. 9 to facilitate the transfer of pediatric patients with respiratory illnesses. Pediatric hospitals were experiencing record-breaking patient volumes and hospitals around the state collaborated to protect access for the youngest Coloradans.

“This has been extremely challenging respiratory season, especially for pediatric patients, but our hospitals have started to see cases plateau,” said Jeff Tieman, Colorado Hospital Association president and CEO. “Colorado hospitals are prepared to employ our capacity management tools, including the CHTC, if we face another surge.

In the meantime, Coloradans can continue to protect themselves and the health care system by washing their hands, staying home when sick, and getting their flu shots and COVID boosters.”
