Intermountain Health Saint Joseph Hospital – Obstetric Case Presentation Collaborative
Intermountain Health Saint Joseph Hospital recognized the benefits of creating dedicated time and space for multidisciplinary team members to convene and discuss obstetric cases in depth utilizing a case presentation model. As a result, the OB Case Presentation Collaborative (CPC) was formed.
The goal of CPC is to identify and implement improvements in care, resulting in improved safety for patients. The team members include OB/GYNs, nurse midwives, family practice medical and obstetric residents, and RNs.
Highlights include the following:
- A formal process was created, and the first case presentation was held in August 2024
- Increased clinician engagement
- During the December 2024 case presentation, more than 60 clinicians (physicians and nurses) from several disciplines met to discuss the case
- CPC will be utilized to establish best practices internally and to identify future learning opportunities and quality improvement activities
