AdventHealth – You Are Not Alone Program
AdventHealth, like other hospitals in Colorado and across the country, recognized that birthing patients experience many changes and disruptions in their lives during the post-partum period. To assist patients in feeling supported and connected throughout their postpartum journeys, the You Are Not Alone program (YANA) was implemented.
The YANA program provides patients with an app that connects them with other patients in the program, thus providing a supportive community. Quarterly check-in phone calls are conducted by YANA staff and volunteers, and the YANA team members are specifically trained to look for signs that may warrant additional care and/or referrals to appropriate mental health resources.
The YANA program has enjoyed many successes to include:
- YANA has registered more than 1,000 new birthing patients over the past seven months.
- YANA has a 70-80% engagement rate across YANA’s various offerings.
- YANA’s team consists of more than 300 volunteers; 99% of whom are mothers, which allows for genuine peer-to-peer connection.
- Studies have proven that birthing patient communities have improved the mental/emotional well-being of participants.
