Banner North Colorado Medical Center – Career Pathways Program
As health care vacancy rates remain a pressing issue nationwide, Banner Health has answered the call by launching the Career Pathways Program. This initiative is designed to support and advance staff by providing internal career pathways for skill development and addressing critical vacancies within the hospital setting.
Career Pathways provides full wrap-around services, including the provision of educational assistance for tuition, books, fees, etc., as well as advisors to support and guide participants throughout the program.
Evidence of Banner Health’s Success with Career Pathways includes the following:
- Awarded a Colorado Department of Labor grant to support the program’s work.
- Since the Career Pathways’ inception in 2021, the program has produced 45 graduates currently working in clinical roles with another 77 in the program. Program graduates include 22 certified patient care assistants, 14 medical assistants, and nine certified sterile processing technicians.
- Since Career Pathways’ expansion into Colorado in June 2024, more than 40 Banner Health team members have submitted program applications; these applicants represent a diverse population across age, race, ethnicity, and gender, representative of the communities Banner Health serves.
- Created new, local, academic partnerships with Aims Community College, Front Range Community College, and Morgan Community College.
