Advancing Maternal Health in Colorado
CHA and its member hospitals and health systems are committed to advancing maternal and infant health in Colorado.
Maternal mortality has risen in Colorado. From 2016 to 2020, there were 174 pregnancy-associated deaths, and 90 percent of those deaths were preventable. In addition, maternal morbidity is also a challenge, with 1,300 Colorado obstetric patients in 2022 experiencing a severe complication. While many factors contribute to both maternal morbidity and mortality, hospitals will play a key role in quality improvement efforts to protect patients.
New! CHA Maternal Health Dashboard
The new Maternal Health Dashboard show statewide delivery trends based on demographic data, geography, and social vulnerability factors. This dashboard results from ongoing work between CHA, its member hospitals and health systems, CDPHE, and the Colorado Perinatal Care Quality Collaborative.
