Colorado Hospital Association Elects New Officers and Board Members

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, COLO. – Sept. 25, 2019 – Colorado Hospital Association (CHA) added a wealth of new talent, experience and perspectives to the CHA Board of Trustees for new terms beginning at the conclusion of the Association’s 2019 Annual Meeting last week.

Konnie Martin, CEO, San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center and San Luis Valley Health Conejos County Hospital, will serve as the 2020 Chairman of the CHA Board of Trustees. Jamie Smith, president, Saint Joseph Hospital and CEO, Joint Operating Agreement between Saint Joseph Hospital and National Jewish Health, was selected as Chairman-Elect. Rob Vissers, MD, president and CEO, Boulder Community Health, was appointed to serve as Secretary/Treasurer.

“CHA relies greatly on the leadership and guidance of its Board of Trustees, so we are pleased to add these talented leaders and their health care knowledge,” said Chris Tholen, CHA executive vice president. Tholen will assume the role of CHA president and CEO in January 2020, following the retirement of Steven J. Summer, the Association’s current president and CEO. “Their insights are critical to helping guide CHA and Colorado’s hospitals and health systems through a time of great change in health care.”

CHA also welcomed the following new Board members:

  • Jandel Allen-Davis, MD, president and CEO, Craig Hospital
  • Dave Ressler, CEO, Aspen Valley Hospital

The following Board members were reappointed for an additional term:

  • Margo Karsten, western regional president and CEO, Banner Health, Northern Colorado
  • Kevin Stansbury, CEO, Lincoln Community Hospital
  • Kevin Unger, president, UCHealth Northern Region and CEO, UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies, UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital

The CHA Board of Trustees also appoints a delegate to serve on the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board. That role will be served by:

  • Arlene Harms, CEO, Rio Grande Hospital

At the Annual Meeting, CHA also recognized 2019 Chairman, Jena Hausmann, president and CEO, Children’s Hospital Colorado and the following outgoing board members:

  • Richard Hammett, president and CEO, Swedish Medical Center
  • John Hicks, president and CEO, Platte Valley Medical Center

Summer, CHA president and CEO. “These leaders have helped guide our board and our member hospitals and health systems through a number of challenging issues, and we appreciate the counsel they have provided.”
