Rural Grant Opportunities
Page Updated: Oct. 10, 2024
CHA Advocacy Principle: Developing rural funding and implementation strategies that increase access to care and provide sustainable financing to rural hospitals.
What Has Been Completed:
Origin: CHA supported passage of Senate Bill 22-200, which created the Rural Provider Access and Affordability Stimulus Grant Program.
Background: The purpose of the grant program is to improve health care affordability and access to care in rural Colorado. Grant payments will be allocated into two categories: affordability-related projects ($4.8 million total), and care access-related projects ($4.8 million total). The Medical Services Board (MSB) adopted the proposed rules governing the administration of the grant program at its December 2022 meeting. Per the finalized rules, 33 of 43 total rural hospitals in Colorado will be eligible for funds and the remaining 10 rural hospitals will have the opportunity through the application process to explain why they should be eligible. Information on the final grants can be found here.
