2020 Colorado Opioid Safety Summit

The Surgeon General of the United States, Vice Admiral Jerome Adams, kicked off the third annual Colorado Opioid Safety Summit as he shared a national perspective on solutions to the opioid epidemic. The Summit, which was hosted by Colorado Hospital Association in partnership with the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health, examined ongoing efforts to address the opioid epidemic that has ravaged the state. Nationally renowned speakers took the stage to discuss initiatives being undertaken across the country to confront opioid misuse and stigma while local speakers took the audience through what the fight looks like closer to home. Representatives from CHA and OBH showcased the groundbreaking work taking place in CO’s CURE initiative and the mobile MAT units, a novel approach in providing addiction treatment in rural communities. And, Phil Weiser, Colorado’s Attorney General shared his legal strategy for navigating the opioid lawsuits and settlement landscape.
